Shred-it UK has announced the opening of a new office in Bridgend, South Wales. The new office will serve as a base for two specially designed on-site shredding trucks and will have a total of 10 employees.

Shred-it already provides information destruction services to more than 370 customers in South Wales, spanning both the public and private sectors. During the last year, the business says it has seen its customer base across the region grow by 52 percent. As such, the new office provides the perfect location to enhance Shred-it's local service to both new and existing customers in the South Wales area.

With the new location, Shred-it has 16 branches throughout the U.K.: Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, Edinburgh, West Yorkshire, Chippenham, Essex - Waltham Abbey, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Portsmouth, Exeter, London - Stratford, London – Brentford, Nottingham and now Bridgend.

In the U.K., Shred-it employs more than 200 people and operates 118 shredding trucks. With growing public awareness of the issues surrounding data protection and the importance of secure document destruction, Shred-it UK has seen its customer base grow throughout the UK, such that it spans the sectors, from government agencies to financial and legal institutions.

Demand for Shred-it's services is likely to be fuelled further by recent Government proposals to raise the maximum fine for businesses breaching data protection laws to £500,000, up from the current maximum penalty of £5,000.
