Shred-it remain at forefront with cutting edge new technology
Document destruction company, has taken delivery of a new state of the art cardboard baler. The baler, supplied by Mil-tek, uses compressed air technology and is also capable of compressing many other types of waste including plastic.
The bales produced are sent by Shred-it for recycling thus further reducing the amount of landfill waste created. Anthony Murray, Operations Manager at Shred-it Manchester said: "Our primary role is to securely dispose of the confidential information generated by our clients. However, more clients are asking us to help them dispose of their cardboard waste for recycling.
Besides increasing operational efficiency by reducing the time spent by our staff flat-packing cardboard waste, the Mil-tek 305 bailer will enable us to store the cardboard more efficiently before it is sent for recycling.
Cardboard for recycling only has a value if it is baled, so we have an opportunity to create new revenues, at the same time as protecting the environment by reducing waste sent to landfill."
If successful, the use of the balers will be rolled out across Shred-it's 15 branch nationwide network next year.
The news follows the recent announcement that sales turnover at Shred-it Manchester exceeded £3.1 million between January and July 2009, 22 per cent up on the corresponding period in 2008.
Shred-it Manchester now provides document destruction services to a total of 3,500 regular customers and occasional users throughout the North-West region.
