Data Fraud Boosts Shred-it

Shred-it, a company which destroys confidential documents, today unveiled plans to increase UK revenues by 30% during 2010 to £35m.

The firm which has its UK and European HQ in Sale operates from 15 wholly-owned and franchise sites nationwide and is looking to expand into North Wales, Wirral and Lancashire.

Turnover between January and October was £23.2m and Shred-it said it expects to top £27m for the year as a whole.

Customer numbers have increased by more than 3,000 during 2009 to over 20,000. Shred-it employs 404 people in the UK, of whom 72 are based in Sale and at branch in  Trafford Park. The firm plans to create 10 posts at its operational support centre in Sale and a further 35 across the country.

Robert Guice, the company's executive vice president said: "This has been a momentous year for our UK business, which has flourished as public and private sector organisations have grown more aware of the financial and reputational risks associated with breaches of confidential data".
