At Shred-it, corporate social responsibility is integral to our business and how we operate
At the centre of our corporate social responsibility approach is our commitment to high standards; fair principles; leading by example; transparency and honesty; providing value at every opportunity; and seeking out ways to improve and evolve so we can better serve our clients and make a difference in the communities in which we live and work.
Corporate Responsibility Policy
We set high standards – meant to guide our interactions with each of our stakeholders to promote collaboration and growth – and we expect nothing less from the people with whom we do business. We share with our team a strong set of values and as a team we remain dedicated to living these values every day.
Growth in any measure must be focused. That is why at this time, we have decided to concentrate on five key pillars of corporate responsibility.
We ensure the security of our customers’ confidential information to protect our clients’ reputations.
We empower our people by supporting personal growth and professional advancement.
We cultivate a diverse workforce that ensures fair employment opportunities.
We invest in the communities where we work and do business.
We work to safeguard the environment and actively promote its protection.
Our dedication to these five areas, coupled with our commitment to act with integrity, social responsibility and respect, comprise the Shred-it Making a Difference mandate, as well as our overarching strategy to being a sustainable, responsible, community-minded services company.
Shredding Services In The Community
Identity theft and corporate fraud are on the rise, threatening not only businesses but consumers and local communities as well. Far too often, in homes around the UK, old personal and confidential documents are disposed of with the household waste or recycling, leaving consumers at risk of becoming victims of identity fraud.
In an effort to raise awareness of identity theft and promote prevention, Shred-it organises Community Shred-it Events around the UK, offering free paper shredding services to the general public.
Held in easily accessible locations, from police stations to shopping centre car parks, Shred-it’s community shredding events provide local residents and businesses with the opportunity to have their confidential documents destroyed free of charge.
At a designated time, our mobile shredding trucks arrive at the location of the community shredding event, upon which local residents are welcome to bring along their important confidential documents for us to destroy, there and then. Whatever you want to shred, be it personal documents and old bank statements or outdated business accounts and invoices, our state-of-the-art shredders can do the job quickly and securely.
Often held with the participation and endorsement of local media, law enforcement or government agencies, our events aim to increase awareness about the importance of document destruction by bringing local communities together and highlighting the issue of information security.
So what’s in it for us?
The answer is simple. Community Shred-it Events raise awareness about the serious issue of identity theft, and make our communities safer places to live. Generating goodwill with potential new customers and strengthening existing customer relationships also makes good business sense.
