Shred-it helps organisations protect their confidential information through secure on site shredding services. Launched in Canada in 1988, Shred-it was the first service offered by Securit. Our commitment to security, integrity and customer service excellence that was always the Shred-it cornerstone continues to guide the entire company.
Today, Shred-it is the world's largest mobile shredding and recycling company. Shred-it employs over 2,600 people in 16 countries, managing the confidential waste destruction needs of over 150,000 clients around the world including 1500 hospitals, 1200 universities and colleges, 8500 bank branches, 500 police forces and multiple intelligence and security agencies. We handle a variety of sensitive materials including internal documentation, products, vital records, medical lab materials and more for legal professionals, financial institutions, government agencies, health care providers, manufacturers and retail organisations.

Environmental accountability
Shred-it document shredding has been reducing waste and helping the environment since the company began in 1988. Today, Shred-it shreds and recycles more than 520 thousand tons of paper each year. For every two containers filled with paper, one tree is saved; every year, we save approximately 9.4 million trees that will keep growing.

Commitment to the community
Established in 2004, the Shred-it Foundation has committed funding to three distinct programs:
- Community-based charities in the markets we serve
- Post-secondary scholarships for children of employees
- Special projects in developing countries
The Foundation effects change by sponsoring specific projects in the developing world and strives to make a difference in the lives of people in need. Funding has been provided for an orphanage in Kenya and the manufacture of wheelchairs for disabled youth in Nigeria as well as the construction of multiple AIDS/HIV clinics in developing countries. The Shred-it Foundation also provides scholarships for the families of Securit employees.
