Shred-it M4 Corridor Supports Environmental Awards

1st June 2010

Shred-it M4 Corridor was delighted to sponsor the University of Bristol’s Green Impact Awards for 2009/2010. The awards are aimed at encouraging and rewarding environmentally-friendly initiatives undertaken by University departments.

A total of around 1,350 ‘green’ actions were implemented by competing departments. Measures included running vehicles on biofuel (chip fat), measuring carbon footprints and installing wormeries for organic waste disposal.

Winners were announced by the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Clarke, at a recent ceremony.

Bristol's First Community Shred Day!

1st May 2010

Shred-it M4 Corridor held Bristol’s first ever Community Shredding event on Saturday 24th April at Tesco Golden Hill near Horfield Common.

Local residents across Bristol were invited to spring clean safely this year, by bagging up old bank statements, credit card bills and any other unwanted confidential papers and bringing them to the Tesco store’s car park where they were securely shredded and later recycled by Shred-it.

Nearly two-hundred (200) people attended the event. Many participants commented on how long they had been hoarding their documents and that this was a great opportunity to dispose of them safely as well as being recycled. It was fantastic to see people and families arriving not only by car but also by bus, bicycle and on foot!

A total of just over 2.9 tonnes of paper was shredded on the day and subsequently recycled.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and for their very generous donations which raised just over £1,000 for Tesco’s charity of the year, CLIC Sargent – Caring for Children with Cancer.

Shred-it M4 Corridor Christmas Donation - Replacing Cards with Cash for Charity

4th January 2010

Much as we all love sending and receiving Christmas cards...don't you ever wonder whether our resources could be more constructively spent?

That’s why at Shred-it M4 Corridor, we make a donation to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) instead of sending Christmas cards to our clients. Besides contributing to a very worthwhile cause, as a company committed to waste reduction and recycling it also follows our environmentally-friendly values.

Our clients fully support this approach:

"Just a quick email to thank you for letting your customers know about your donation to the NSPCC as an alternative to sending out Christmas cards to us all. This is a much more 'human' approach than sending e-cards or 'happy holiday' cards, and your choice of charity means a lot to me personally as the NSPCC now shelters ChildLine under its wings."
